Texas quail hunters should not expect substantive changes for the 2012-13 season after the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission urged biologists to intensify quail conservation efforts, while minimizing the use of regulations as a means to address declining bobwhite populations.

Long known as a premier annual event for big-game hunters at home and abroad, the Dallas Safari Club (DSC) convention and expo will expand in 2012 to include attractions focused on quail and other upland birds.

Adding to a growing list of sponsors, Sportsman Channel and National Hunting and Fishing Day will continue to partner throughout the 2011 year. NHF Day takes place on the fourth Saturday in September, which is Sept. 24, 2011.

Surely Davy Crockett, Sam Houston and Jim Bowie are rolling over in their graves.  It is hard to believe that these patriots in the fight for a free and independent Texas would ever have foreseen that a legislature full of supposed conservatives would vote to permit warrantless searches of the homes of those folks who might sell a few puppies at the end of their driveway.

Since 2006, Dallas Safari Club (DSC) has granted more than $750,000 in funding for wildlife and habitat conservation, youth and public education, and hunter advocacy programs within the state of Texas.
