Bad Boy Buggy Pros

Bad Boy Buggy Cons

  1. 48V Systems is complex. It may be difficult for regular golf cart technician to service.
  2. The rear bed comes from lying down the back seat. Since there is no side wall frame, when driving in rough conditions items are likely to fall out.
  3. Front winch has more power than the winch mechanism can withstand unless pulling in a straight direction. When pulling at an angle, the side rollers that guide the wire both broke.
  4. You really need to apply the brakes hard to slow down or stop.
  5. Battery terminal shook loose while driving across a ranch with fairly flat terrain at a Dove Lease in GeorgeWest, TX. When this happened, it melted the lead terminal which put us on foot.
  6. Although the machine is quiet because it is electric, there is so much vibration that various screws work loose and create noise. Example:  Front basket; Driver Seat Rest; Rifle Rack; the Cage Frame.
  7. Expensive

Ideas to Improve the Bad Boy Buggy

  1. Headlights are mounted too low if driving off road at night through typical native grasses.
  2. Better shocks are needed both for comfort of the ride and to reduce vibration.
  3. Would the overall frame have less vibration if welded instead of using screws?
  4. The "Finish Out" process heavily depends on the Dealership because coming from the factory there were a number of loose wires, loose bolts, loose battery terminals, and a tire mounted backwards so we couldn't check the air pressure.

Bad Boy Buggy Final Performance Statistics

  2. Max Elevation 947 ft

  5. Moving Time: 3:30 hrs
  6. Resting Time: 4:34 hrs

Following comments from Dr. John Goodman:
I have had a stretch Bad Boy catch fire in my garage and cause major damage to the house and cars.  Bad Boy has been notified via my insurance company's attorneys.  By law, they had the right to inspect the cause of the fire with engineers and fire experts from my insurance company.  They did not show up.

So I really do not know their position from a legal prospective.  However, I sat down with the dealer here in San Angelo, West Texas Industrial Engines, and they contacted Bad Boy.  They ordered me a new buggy and the company (Bad Boy) said that it would be covered either under the warranty or by insurance.

Fire restoration people were in my house for over a month cleaning every item in the house to get the smoke smell out.  The Bad Boy canopy apparently was the part that burned the hottest after the fire started in the battery compartment.

I have a friend that owns one and just this weekend the back axle broke then when we tried to move it the other wheel fell off.  This is after last fall the throttle got stuck and ran up a wall.  I think no matter what they come out with they are not safe.  Bad Boy Buggies do not have "real" owners manuals nor a deceint management staff.  The service manager doesn't know anything.  All I have to say is buyer beware!!!!  I will spend my money on another product.  I have heard I am not the first to know of these problems.

This is not my opinion, it is factual. Badboy buggies are a piece of crap. If I had it to do over again I would definitely buy something else for $10,000. I have had major brake, electrical and winch problems than could imagine. I brought my bad boy to the mfg in natchez and they re-did my brakes and new winch and one month later brought it back and the girl told me, oh we have a better brake design now, let me change to those. Not only did they charge me another and I mean another $400 to re-do brakes, they still don't stop the buggy. I also was given the bad boy back with a electrical problem they should have fix, a wire coming off the battery connecting to a box (Navitas) and you are to see this terminal glow at night and it is fried. To get to this wire, you have to take off the whole roof, seat and so-on. They should have fixed this problem and all others when I paid them over $1800 and $700 on 2 visits. Whatever people do. DO NOT BUY A BAD BOY BUGGY>>>YOU WILL BE SORRY> I HOPE MY BAD BOY BURNS MY HOUSE DOWN>

Texas Oudoors/Dr. John Goodman:

I know it's been 3 years, but what was the outcome of the claim against Bad Boy Buggies? We just had a fire that is believed to have been caused by a brand new Bad Boy Buggy. It was charging when a fire occurred.

I had a bad boy buggie for 8 days last night it caught on fire while i was driving it. The fire started just behind the batteries and was visible through a small hole. It quickly spread to the batteries and consumed the whole vehicle. I contacted them by email today.
