Private Lands
The goal of the Private Lands and Habitat Program is to provide advice and information to land managers interested in managing natural resources on their property. We hope this site will answer your questions regarding the conservation and development of wildlife habitat and the proper management of the various wildlife populations which utilize that habitat, from producing quality whitetails to increasing songbird diversity. Through this effort, the Department hopes to slow or reverse the decline in quantity of the State's wildlife habitat and improve the quality of remaining habitat. Biologists of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department promote management practices which will maximize wildlife potential, prevent waste or depletion of the resource, provide aesthetic and economic benefits to the landowner, and offer increased opportunity for public use and enjoyment of renewable natural resources. We offer programs, services, and resources for private landowners interested in managing their land for sustainable wildlife populations. We invite you to explore the opportunities, seek information, and select the options that will help you attain your land management goals. Wildlife Management Associations are landowner-driven groups formed to improve wildlife habitats and associated wildlife populations. Over 250 wildlife management associations are operating in Texas today and the number is growing Wildlife Management Associations of Texas listed here.
